I am Tharaka from Sri Lanka, currently living in Singapore. As a child, I developed a passion for natural history mainly because of the beautiful natural surroundings I grew up in. This passion further wetted my curiosity on natural history and led me to study local wildlife at every opportunity. As a result, I carried out many small studies on natural history involving many taxonomic groups (vertebrates, invertebrates & plants).
I received my BSc degree Lanka in ‘Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management’ from Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, 2014. After completing my undergraduate education, I provided my expertise on biodiversity (especially odonate, butterfly and herpetofaunal taxonomy) as a consultant to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Sri Lanka. In 2019, I completed my Master’s degree in ‘Ecology’ from College of Forestry, Guangxi University, PR China.
Though, I was happy with all this, deep inside I have the passion to learn more and do more as a scientist and a conservationist. My current research work dedicate to Ecology and Conservation, and the primary focus of my projects are on Landscape Ecology, with special focus on Agroecosystems.
I started this blog, NATURE ARCHIVES, to share my Thoughts, Explorations, and R Code that I stash away in various publications. Hopefully someone out there will be benefited, while I also can learn more.
